Our Challenge this Week

Theme: Earth Day

Create a project with Earth Day as your inspiration, include a recycled or re-purposed item in your project to help save the Earth! Don't forget to tell us what it was in your blog post.

Senior Design Team

Jan
Using something for a dual or triple purpose is one thing that helps save our planet. This card is not only an Easter card, but also an Earth Day card. In order to make it into triple purpose, the inside says HAPPY EASTER/HAPPY EARTH DAY/__________ to suit all sorts of needs ! The little white flower was made from the liner in a candy box, giving it a "tasty" texture. Stop by Jan's blog and say hello !

Tracy
For Tracy's Earth Day card she recycled lots of cereal box chipboard. The punched frame is four layers deep, the apple two, and the banners one. The image and apple sentiment were colored with Prisma Color Pencils on some 100% recycled kraft paper from the Kraft Outlet. The punched border was also done using this recycled paper.

Regan
Regan enjoys re-purposing items in her crafting and this time wasn't any different. She created this cute little wall hanging for her craft room using one of her handmade journal cards, some cardboard and a little paint! For more photos and details, please visit her blog Emora Designs.

Design Team

Kim
Kim found purpose for this little packaging box by upcycling it into a candle gift set. Inside the box are tea light candles hand stamped onto tissue paper. The candles hold their place with some hand cut tissue paper grass, lightly colored with chalk mist. Kim shares with us how she created this box and how to make your own stamped candles on her blog. Be sure to check it out!

Jennifer
Jennifer used a vintage postcard and recycled some gift packaging for this Earth-friendly Easter card. Head over to her blog for more about it!

C
C used this week's challenge as an opportunity to recycle some cardboard she had lying around her office. She used this cardboard (courtesy of Amazon) to act as a mat for her stamping. C's card is distressed, crinkled and in all ways as grunged as she could get it. It was fun to make this messy and recycled card. To see details of how this card was made check out TradeFish Designs.

Angi
Angi decided to "Go Green" by using recycled items to create a Mother's Day gift bag & pillow box. Instead of throwing away paper bags from her local bakery, she recycles them. She also found a template online to make pillow box out of thin cardboard that came in a box of supplies that she ordered. To see more be sure to visit Angi's blog.

Join us tomorrow for an easy tutorial by Jan, and Kristina has our Exec Reveal on Friday.
