Here are most of the supplies that I used. You'll need cardstock and whatever embellishments you would like to use. I printed out this cute little Pink Cat Studio "Hootie Pie" image and colored him with Copics. He's cut out with a Nestabilities die. I also decided to use a Martha Stewart punch and some ribbon. You can use the adhesive of your choice.
To begin you need one 4" x 4" square of cardstock and one 2 3/4' x 2 3/4" square of a coordinating paper. Cut the smaller square in half diagonally. Mark the larger square at the 2" mark on three sides and score as shown in the pic.
This photo shows the BACK side of the bookmark with the scored sections folded in.
For my bookmark I added half of the DP paper square and some other DP that I used the MS punch on. These pieces were lightly glued and then stitched on with my sewing machine. NOTE: Do any stitching before you finish the backside of the bookmark so you can hide the stitching.
Here's the backside of the bookmark with all my threads taped down. Just pull the back thread slightly and the front one will slip back through the hole enough for you to grab it and pull it to the back. Tape it and you don't have to worry about any unraveling. You'll also see the other half of the first small square of DP. The back can be finished in many ways but I just made mine plain and simple so I cut another square just slightly smaller that the original base square (3 7/8" x 3 7/8"), marked and scored it the same way, trimmed the excess corners off and glued it on the back to cover my stitching and the ends of the ribbon I ran around the front of the bookmark.
You can see everything nicely covered here and the Score Tape waiting for the top triangle to be added.
I wanted to give Hootie a tiny bit of sparkle so I added a little of the gold embossing powder I recently purchased at Michael's to the edge of his mat.
Here's the finished bookmark with Hootie, his sparkly mat, and some bright lime green ribbon added.
I picked hootie for my bookmark cause I'm an avid reader, sometimes staying up way into the night and I imagine my eyes might look a little like Hootie's. LOL
This is a really easy project and makes a very sturdy little bookmark so I hope you'll give it a try.
Blessings!
Be sure to come back for tomorrow's Executive Reveal with Kristina!
