Thursday's Tutorial from C !!

Welcome to Thursday's Tutorial - this week we feature C, our resident certified Copic instructor !!

Hello Everyone,

Today's tutorial is a bit more advanced than the last tutorial on blending. I wanted to jump ahead a few steps (techniques) to really get people excited about the possibilities of Copic Markers and the things you can do with them besides just coloring images - not that they are not fabulous for that - but there is so much more!
Airbrushing can be done using some additional tools and your Copic Markers (Sketch or Ciao). You will need an airbrush system. You can see the different options HERE. My tutorial will focus on the use of the ABS3 System with my Sparmax Compressor.

Now I realize that not everyone is going to run out and buy a special air compressor. I have this because I am certified to teach classes and wanted something with more power but there are definitely other options (check HERE).

Step 1: Gather your supplies. I chose to pull out a white flower and a collection of Violet Copic markers to color my flower.

Step 2: Load markers into airbrush system. I loaded the lightest color first into my Copic handle with the broad nib facing out.

Step 3: Start with first layer of color. I pushed down on top of the grey button and slowly started to spray the color on my flower. The button is on top just above where the writing is on the marker. I tried to put on an even coat of color to act as my base. You can see the outline of the flower...which shows you another cool use of the airbrusing system...masking!

Step 4: Add another layer of color. I thought another layer of color would add more depth to my flower and give it a nice texture.

Step 5: Add third and final layer of color. The final layer of color really shows off the detail of the flower and just makes me feel happy!
Step 6: Add embellishments to flower and assemble card. I decided to add a large half pearl for the center of my flower and then used some PTI die-cuts, stamps, paper and impression plate to put together this lovely "missing you" card. You can see I went with purple for my flower but this could have easily been airbrushed in any color. Now I only have to buy white flowers for my crafting and make them whatever color I need for my particular project.
Supplies (all supplies PTI unless otherwise noted)

Paper; Lavendar Moon, Plum Pudding, SSWhite and Kraft
Ink: Gypsy (CTMH), Fresh Snow
Stamps: Fillable Frames #2
Embellishments: Color Me Crazy White Flower (Petaloo), Pearl (Max Richards), Indigo Rhinestones (Queen & Co.)
Tools: Tin Types Impression Plate, Leaf Prints dies, Double-ended Banner dies and Mat Stack 3 die, Copic Sketch Markers (V12, V15, V17), Sparmax AC101 Air Compressor

Wow, thanks Cecilia - we are so lucky to have her on our team !!

C, I keep wanting to buy one of these airbrush machine, but felt a little intimidated. So I am so glad you posted this tutorial. It doesn't look as complicated as I thought. Great tutorial!
