Welcome to Challenge 17!

Ghosts and Goblins welcome you to our very scary Challenge 17 here at Papercraft Star!

This month at Papercraft Star we're starting something new! Not only do you have the chance to win the People's Choice Award button and a yummy Challenge Sponsor Prize. Now, all of our challenge participants have the opportunity to win a randomly drawn Grand Prize at the end of every month from one of our fabulous Grand Prize sponsors! That's right! We want all of our participants, no matter what craft style or skill level to have the opportunity to win prizes here at Papercraft Star because we love our participants so dang much! Each month we will randomly select a Grand Prize winner from all the participants of all the challenges during that month. The more times you enter the challenges during that month, the more times your name is entered into the drawing and the bigger chance you have to win the Grand Prize!

We are excited to announce that our October Grand Prize is sponsored by not one, but two fabulous Etsy Shops, Art Cult and DPD Designs. DPD Designs Home of the Original "Hairballs" is providing the randomly selected Grand Prize winner with an amazing assortment of buttons as well as some paper die cuts.

Art Cult is providing the Grand Prize winner with three digital collage sheets of the winners choosing.

POOPOOPAPERtm crafts natural and odorless eco-friendly paper products made from poo. Outrageously playful products made from poo with a serious underlying message of sustainability. POOPOOPAPER will be awarding our winner this week with a journal !

This fun Halloween photograph from Martha Stewart Living is the inspiration for Challenge 17. Use it to inspire any papercraft project your heart desires and then be sure to enter your project at the bottom of this post any time between now and 12 noon on Saturday October 16. Your entry makes you eligible to win the People's Choice Award Button and Challenge Sponsor Prize, as well as enters you to win the Grand Prize that we will select randomly at the end of the month.

Before we get started with our Design Team reveal, we are really excited to introduce our Guest Designer for Challenge 17, Aphra Bolyer of My Scrappy Life blog.

Hiya Scrappers! My name is Aphra, and I live down South in Louisiana with my Alaskan oil man Jeff and our two boys, Jonathan (10) and Ethan (3). While my husband is tromping around in the Alaskan tundra for weeks at a time, I'm home working part-time at a doctor's office, chasing around two rowdy boys, cleaning up after a miniature daschsund, and scrapbooking!

I fell in love with scrapbooking when my oldest was born in 2000, and I get more and more addicted every year. It's my passion, my creative outlet, my sanity! Mostly, I create layouts of my two sons, but I also make an occasional card or gift. Just recently, I've begun experimenting with altered items and home decor. Honestly, I just love all things crafty.

I am over-the-moon excited to be asked to guest design for Papercraft Star, and I hope that you'll join in with this month's challenges!

We just know Aphra's work will inspire you as much as it inspires us and we hope you'll take the time to stop by her blog to see all of her talented creations! Thank you for joining us this week Aphra!

Our Wednesday design team all went for the circular objects in this bright cheerful photo inspiration from Martha Stewart Living.

Jan
It was challenging for Jan to restrict herself to orange, black and white only ! Halloween has become so much more colorful, but just the three colors is a real throw back to Jan's long lost (and misspent) youth.

Liz
Liz used the colours orange, black and white as well as the circles as her inspiration for her layout. She created a layout using a gorgeous photo of her son and a 'robot' theme with lots of black and orange, gears she cut out from the patterned paper and buttons. Check out her blog for some close up shots.

Regan
Regan found that the circles are what caught her eye, the lanterns in the top right corner and on the table cloth. She used the circles and sketch #124 from Creative Scrappers to create this "Doggone Scary" layout. She cut her circles using 3 different circle punches and her Coluzzle and randomly popped some up using pop dots to add dimension. For more photos and details, please visit her blog.

Link up your submissions right now ! and until Saturday at noon. Voting will begin then, and will close on Monday night at midnight Eastern (US) time. Tomorrow our "C" ladies, Catherine, Caroline and Christy will be here with their spooky designs - be sure to come back !!

I just finished my layout for this challenge (insomnia pays off once again! LOL) and it occured to me you may not accept digi layouts since it's a papercraft blog. I couldn't find an email to ask....would it be possible if someone could let me know? I do both paper layouts and digi layouts so if I need to do a paper one in the future I'll for sure :) :) :)

Hi Christina,

We responded by email to your comment... but we also wanted to leave a note here to tell you and everyone that we welcome digi layouts just as well as those crafted by paper! Thanks for playing along with us at Papercraft Star, I am sure your digi layout will be inspirational... especially to our other digi users!! :-)

YAY!! Thanks for the heads up. Like I said, I do all kinds of memory crafts paper and digital as well as paper cardmaking, so I especially love challenge blogs that leave you open to just sit and create something that you are inspired to do. You girlies rock :)

I'm so glad Beth turned me onto this challenge! Great work by the DT. I'm a cardmaker and scrapper, more cards lately I'm afraid. But this is just what I need to get inspired back onto my pages. Just great work ladies!! I'm looking forward to doing more challenges now.
