Friday's Executive Team Reveal

What a fantastic day here in Colorado! Beth is here with me and we visited the oh so beautiful Garden of the Gods today. Here is one of the pictures that we took this morning,

Isn't that just gorgeous!?!

I am so loving having Beth here at my home. We took a few moments to look over some scrapbooks that I completed back in the 90's. It's so funny to look back and see how much scrapbooking has changed over the years. I have some layouts with at least 10 pictures on them and you would never catch me doing that these days!!

For this week's dual challenge we had a beautiful white photo for inspiration and fabulous stamps from our sponsor Trade Fish Designs to use. I created a mostly white and black Father's Day card for this challenge. I created a banner of out neck ties and used a basic Happy Father's Day sentiment. On the inside of the card I used a stamp from the Father Quotes stamp set from Trade Fish Designs. I could not agree more with who ever the "unknown" author is!

You still have time to join us on this dual challenge! Just link up your project by 9pm (eastern) on Sunday, after that the voting will begin.

Thursday's Tutorial from Jan !!

Hi Everyone !! Jan here today with a short tutorial on storing your photos in Windows. When I was teaching college, I occasionally taught a class on records management - and I always stressed to my students it wasn't about storing your records, it was about being able to retrieve them later !

I keep a zillion pictures on my computer, and I bet you do too. If you are not real computer savvy, this should help you get going on an organized file system. I can always put my finger on a picture almost instantly, and I can credit any pictures I have downloaded by naming my folders. If you are a scrapbooker, you can use folders to organize the photos you haven't managed to scrap yet.

Here is what my picture gallery looks like when I open it.

My photos automatically come up in a date folder. You can move your photo to another folder (I put all my blog pictures together) by simply dragging and dropping into the folder.

When I open my blog photo folder, it looks like this, with all the pictures in folders according to date.

You can sort them other ways too, by clicking on "arrange by..."

To make a new folder, click on "new folder" - how hard is that.

Double click the name on the folder (it is called new folder, very creative), and you can rename it by typing in the blue space below.

Hope this will help you sort your photos just the way you want them. You should have no trouble finding anything again !!

Our Dual Challenge Design Team Reveal

Beth

Beth (one of our Executive Team members) was inspired to participate in the dual challenge this month and used the inspiration photograph to create this "Grandpa" card that features stamps by our Design Team sponsor, Tradefish Designs. About this card, Beth said, "I chose to basically ignore the Anniversary or Wedding restriction of our challenge this week, in order to create a masculine card because... I just had to use this week's gorgeous photo as inspiration for a Father's Day card that I planned for my grandson Jack to give to his grandfather. Beth went on to say, " I hope our participants in the challenges this month take advantage of our dual challenges for each week and feel free to step outside the box to create masculine projects using our themes for inspiration".

Jan

This week Jan made an anniversary card for her husband. The card is simple, but elegant. She found the PERFECT sentiment from Tradefish Designs. Instructions for this very easy card are on her blog - stop by and say hello.

Kim

Kim created a card for a wedding celebration or an anniversary. Kim framed the sentiment from the "Missing You" stamp set provided by Tradefish Designs and layered it onto a pleated ribbon. Perfect for a June wedding! Be sure to stop by Kim's blog for a list of supplies and to say hello.

Tracy

Tracy has created a very simple anniversary card using the photo inspiration colors for this week. She has used embossing and machine stitching to add texture to the card and a pretty chalked heart doily as a backdrop for the shimmery yellow flower. Her sentiment is from the Missing You stamp set from Tradefish Designs.

Regan

Regan thought this challenge might be a little difficult but she put this card together pretty quick! She used the colors from the photo as her inspiration. What a great card for the groom or father of the bride; it would even work as an anniversary card. For more photos and details, please visit her blog Emora Designs.
