Challenge #3 - Sketch

(VOTING IS IN PROGRESS)

It's time for Challenge 3 here at Papercraft Star!  This week we chose to inspire you to create something beautiful with paper and glue by providing a fun new sketch to get your Mojo going.  Our Design Team has also crafted a number of different projects this week to further inspire you.

We'll be posting the DT projects every day through Friday.  Visit daily for your inspiration, then get crafting because you only have until noon Saturday (July 10) to create something that was inspired by this sketch and enter it using In Linkz (below).  After Saturday noon, the voting will begin and we hope you all remember to return (whether you created a project or not) to vote for your favorite Papercraft Star!

Below are three of our Design Teams projects, enjoy and don't forget to come back tomorrow to see more of the projects our team created just to inspire you to enter your own creation for a chance to be the next Papercraft Star!

Caroline

This week the designers were given a sketch to use as inspiration. Caroline decided to continue with the July 4th theme and made this card. In case you haven't figured out yet Caroline loves things that go "wow". If it sparkles and shimmers that's even better. She even made the background paper herself.

Liz

Liz used photos of her son for this week's sketch challenge. She chose patterned paper and embellishments to match the photos and give the page a 'boy' look. She used embroidered badges, buttons, rub ons, chipboard, ink and die cuts to complete the page. For extra dimension Liz backed the embellishments with foam tape.

  Jan

This week's challenge inspired Jan to create a card based on the sketch.  She used glitter, buttons, and braiding cord to evoke an image of cool drinks on the veranda as the sun sets.

Friday Inspiration for Challenge #3

Can you believe it's Friday already? We sure hope you have been crafting away and are ready to link up your project. Don't forget, you only have until 12 noon on Saturday to get linked up before the voting begins.
Here is one last bit of inspiration for you from our talented Design Team...

Suzy

Suzy loved the grid design on this sketch and cut her patterned paper and pictures at 3 inches to create it. She offset the grid to add more interest and make room for her large title.

The beach balls and whale were cut from the Create a Critter cartridge. Suzy added diamond stickles to the whale's water splash and 2 black brads for his eyes. These added touches really give this critter personality!

Tracy

For this week's sketch challenge, Tracy chose to do a layout of all the beautiful summer flowers growing around her house. Some Cricut cuts, sparkle, and paint complete the page.

Stephanie A.

As Stephanie shows in this card, it is easy to take a sketch and make it your own. Stephanie opted to use the sketch to create a patchwork card with an assortment of "left overs". Once the base is done, you can add any sentiment you want. Stephanie chose to create a graduation card.

Steph D.

Steph was excited to create her first layout using photos from her recent Afternoon Tea get together. She followed this week's awesome sketch for the placement of the photos and added rub-ons and other embellishments to decorate her page.

Thursday Inspiration

We're happy you could join us today to see more of our talented Design Team's work.  Today's Designer's all chose to create scrapbook layouts for their interpretation of our sketch.  However, this doesn't mean that you have to create a scrapbook layout as well, feel free to create any paper project your heart desires that our sketch inspires you to create!

Don't forget that you have until Saturday at noon to enter your project using In Linkz.  After 12 noon, the voting for the People's Choice Award for Challenge 3 begins... so don't forget to come back between Saturday and Tuesday to cast your vote!

Tomorrow we'll have some more inspiring Design Team creations for you to see and until then, get crafting!

Christy

Christy captured the excitement of her son's trip to the zoo in her layout for Challenge #3. He is an absolute animal nut and at 2 years old his excitement for life is captivating! She flipped the sketch left to right and used bright papers to capture the memories. The white matting behind her pictures just makes them pop!

Regan

Regan used the sketch challenge to create a 12X12 layout. To add dimension to the sketch's blocked effect she used 2 sets of mats for her photos and one smaller mat in a different color for her embellishments. She used heat embossing and dimensional embellishments to add texture and interest to the layout. For more information on this layout please visit her blog.

Catherine

Catherine took this sketch and and switched a few things about the sketch, mainly the title. She really enjoyed working on this project, and creating different embellishments for the squares without photos. Check out her blog for all details, the paper she used is one of the new My Mind's Eye collections!

Dawn

Dawn used recent photos, that could be trimmed into smaller portions to make this eye-appealing layout. She chose photos that had various focal points, to keep with one theme and show all of the details of the day. It was made to fit in an 8X8 scrapbook, or layered (as shown here with a green mat) to fit in a 12X12 book.
